Not sure I would recommend that then. You walk everywhere in D.C.

Don't remember the tour bus we used but we went to the Capital, White House, National Mall, Vietnam/WW2 Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Arlington Cemetery

Don't know if it's been mentioned but National air and space museum is a must.

Bacon, since I assume you are originally from Louisiana do you find our D.C. humidity harder or easier to deal with or are they about the same?

I'm thinking that the OP and his wife need to avoid the lines of the a place like the Washington Monument and do the memorials where there really aren't lines like Lincoln and Jefferson; take bus tours; and stay inside air conditioned museums.

We were just talking about that. I'll say this, my wife is in good shape and she's got more energy than almost anyone I've ever met, she never slows down except to sleep. But carrying around babyBass in her belly will probably be a whole different ball game.

I'm not Bacon, but I lived there 3 years before moving to Williamsburg last year. DC humidity has nothing on south LA, I always laughed at the people that complained of the heat/humidity. It felt so awesome my first summer there...really only gets hot for me for about 6 weeks and even then it is bearable.

DC humidity has nothing on LA

however, I tend to be outside more in DC so at times it really sucks

Forgot to mention my wife will be 19 weeks pregnant so I'm sure that'll play a huge part of what we will end up doing
I would recommend doing all your walking stuff between 7-11am and then doing indoor stuff until 6pm-ish

do you know where you are staying?

I would forget Baltimore, not worth it for such a short trip.

As others have said Mt Vernon is awesome for a "getaway" type thing, but I would definitely advise doing this in the morning because you will do a good bit of walking.

There is so much to do here I cant even begin to name it all. It's one of the reasons Im so excited for Spring after such a brutal winter. I get to experience the city again

Like everyone else said, DC has lots of walking. June will be hot, don't waste your time going to Baltimore. I was in Baltimore a few years ago on business and we drove to DC to get away.

If you are looking for a day trip, definitely do Mt. Vernon.

Take the Metro and get off at the Anacostia station. Lots to see and do around that area.

It's beautiful that time of year, too.

And crowded. Get to the museums early. I was fortunate enough to go in the winter and had no wait in the National Archives. Museum of Natural History filled up very quickly and you will want as much time as possible there.

That's by the White House not by the Capitol. Great place to go

Really I find it about the same. What makes it harder is that you walk everywhere in a suit.

I would do a tour of the monuments at night or one led by a park ranger with a van

It was just a short walk from my hotel and I loved the place. It gets packed so get there a bit early. The oysters are expensive but well worth it. It is also worth going to Founding Farmers not far from the WH.

There are two air and space museums, original is in the mall, nice new big one is out by the airport. Both are awesome. Space Shuttle is at the one by the airport.

Mini Bar by Jose' Andres' is worth going to. Really expensive and you need to make your reservation a month or two ahead of time.
