Apparently "german" cars made outside germany can have remote start
The new Q5s are made in mexico and have remote start
But i couldnt imagine paying premium price for a "german" car made in fricking mexico.

Because it's easier (and cheaper) to make them all without it than separate EU from non EU cars.

Yeah, I park my car in a garage at my house and in a parking garage at work so it isn't a big deal for me. If you park outside regularly though I would understand why you would want it if you're dropping that kind of money. Unless you live in San Diego you're going to get good use out of it

Correct.
My hunch is they'd have to completely recertify every engine with the EPA to work with remote start since they would technically be different than the ones certified in the EU to run under Euro 8 or whatever emissions laws. I imagine the business case for that isn't great, since that would likely cost tens of millions of dollars at least.
For the record I have a 2011 X5 diesel and a 2006 Cayenne S. Neither have remote start and y'all wanna talk about summer heat but I don't want to talk about when it's -10 and I have to trudge out in the snow to start either/or.

They go the exact opposite direction, all the vehicles turn off when you come to a stop. They don't want you running the vehicle at traffic lights, much less just sitting in a lot running for your a/c.

In Europe they have auxiliary heaters which can be remotely activated to heat the interior, the defrosters, the steering wheel heater , the seats, etc etc. so need for a remote starter. For whatever reason, these auxiliary heaters are not legal in the US.
