Judge tell me if this is unreasonable

Vet sees your dog for a physical exam (no labs, no testing) if he agrees with you then the dog is put down. Let’s say his basic physical exam fee is $50-$100

Now let’s say he disagrees with you and says there may still be a way to treat the dog and gives you the option to persue other testing. Then you have the choice to pay for said testing

Would you be ok with that?

If the dog is in the condition you claim it’s highly unlikely he would go to the labwork testing route

Why on earth would you use a .22. I've shot a raccoon point blank in the head and watched it struggle to death.

I have too, but it was because my 10 year old blew it's jaw off instead of putting it in the brain.

So you’re upset about a policy?

So old, paralyzed, blind and anxious isn’t enough?

What exactly do you want to test?

What policy? Maybe that the dog has to be examined but where does it say anything more than that has to be done?

It may be enough for some vets, but doesn’t seem to be for your current one. I just think you should get over it and find a new vet.

That’s reasonable. If a vet wants to build in exam time into the fee, of course that’s fair. But to do a full blown physical on a 15 year old shepherd whose whole family agrees she’s reached the end and doesn’t want to watch suffer? That’s bullshite.

To be clear, this vet won’t put a dog down until he does a FULL ANNUAL PHYSICAL WITH TESTS.

Ok. By the vet. The vet can make any “policy” he wants because nothing is regulated.

Why would there be a blanket policy that an exam requires blood work?

If the dog comes in paralyzed, blind, body riddled with cancer that is metastatic on x-ray do you think it’s necessary to draw a CBC?

Bull fricking shite. No vet charges $200 for an exam.

Has this vet examined this dog for these issues in the past? You said this vet “knows” the dog, what does that mean? This boils down to about three possible things, the vet doesn’t know shite about this dog, the vet doesn’t really want to put down animals and prices accordingly, or lastly the vet thinks you’re a raging a-hole and is pricing accordingly. Seriously guy, unless you’re trolling, stop posting about it and either pay or find another vet.

Damn y’all are all so salty. I’m in the medical profession so I typically understand issues like this and some medical expenses that don’t make sense are necessary.

In this situation I just don’t understand how an initial upfront exam cost of $200 is necessary for an established patient.

I don’t understand why the vet can’t see the dog and charge a basic exam fee. If he is comfortable with putting the dog down from there fine. If he feels like he needs to order labwork and tests then discuss that with the owner and why it would be necessary.

I mean is there an epidemic of people trying to pay to kill healthy dogs?

That’s the only situation where I could see a blanket policy for labwork and tests
