Purchasing a vehicle out of state then bringing back to Louisiana

I'm considering purchasing a vehicle in Houston and they said they can do the TTL for La. there. What about an inspection sticker? Can I get that without the registration and License plate or would I have to wait until that comes in?

You can make the run. Just use Waze and avoid the cops.

You have to wait. You will get temp papers though so you dont have to worry

I bought my car just outside Seattle, drove it all the way back. Got an inspection sticker as soon as I got back to town. The temp plate gives you ~30 days (if I remember correctly) to get all of that taken care of.
Just mind your speed and you should be fine.

I just waited til my plate came in a week later to get a LA inspection sticker. If you go that route, make sure they aren't charging you for a TX one. Another vehicle I bought in TX had a TX sticker on it, and I just kept it until it expired.

I have bought two trucks in TX. They gave me a temporary tag, Bill of sale, and some registration letter saying I bought it in Texas.
I called my insurance company and got it put on before I left the dealership.
They sent the title within the week (had to get a duplicate), I went to the title/DMV place, and got everything done in LA.
To get a brake tag, you need LA registration and insurance paperwork

beware if it's used, Texas has no laws for protection. when you buy it, it's yours no matter what.
My cousin bought a Dodge truck and literally the wheel fell off the next day, at the end of the driveway. The dealer told him tough shite.

Not to mention all the flooded cars from a few months ago.

Did he buy the car as is? If so, then he's screwed. Did he get a carfax report on the car? Was there an undisclosed issue with the car? Then you might have something.

we bought a new car in Houston this past December. It does comes with a Texas inspection. the temp. plate on back also says Texas buyer, being that the inspection sticker matched the Texas plate. It will also come with a front plate frame. I just waited 3 months, even after my plate had come to get a new sticker. Haik Chevrolet also sent me a refund of $250 because they calculated the LA. Tax wrong. LA. tax was about $400 more then the Tx. tax. I believe Texas has a 6.5% ceiling for tax on a new vehicle. Still saved a ton of money buying from them.
