Nola priorities are straight.

And Bourbon Street work is months behind schedule. What street are the tourists going to piss and vomit in during Mardi Gras?

This is more of NOLA reality.

Did I miss it or is now S&WB saying 16 pumps were out Saturday? The last "revision" was 14. Then 8 before that. Then 7 before that. Then 0 before that?

Can we just ask were any pumps running last weekend?

Better yet.....

Did anyone actually see a fire last night on the turbine or is this all smoke and mirrors now that they've determined what actually happened last weekend?

As I said in the other thread

The problem in NOLA (and many other places) is that these board positions are honorary and political kickbacks for service. Either run it like a business or cut the dept down to a few honorary members and let a private contractor oversee all of the actual work. You can't have an entire department of thumb twiddlers getting political favors and expect actual work to be done. What's sad is that someone could walk into the department, clean house, fix it, and would be setup for a political future if they were so inclined. Unfortunately none of the ones receiving political favors have the wherewithal to realize this. They either see it as easy money, or a position they can carryover to a political career because of the title, and a populous that is so numb to this level of incompetency will enable them to do so.

The political system in NOLA and La as a whole isn't overly complicated to fix. What is difficult to fix is the culture that has been choking the state for over a century that people are either ignorant to or numb to.

Flood out the criminals, highly educated folks move back in and raise the property values to keep out ....let's see...how the OT puts it... "the culture."

One problem, highly educated people won't move into an area that is only protected by aging failing infrastructure operated by Nola's finest.

They have had a long standing issue with faulty wiring that both Mitch and the City Council knew about but refused to fix, so it is possible, however, it is also possible that they figured out that 16 pumps are broken, another batch of pumps are down for maintenance, and another batch of pumps doesn't have the required power (this is only what the citizens know from the public hearing. Who nows what the truth is), also, the pump stations are unmanned until too late and Mitch just fired the entire management staff is the S&WB so they are completely fricked and had no choice but to just close the city.

Those trenches will still be open at Mardi Gras. It'll be just like the bathroom at Bogies.

That caller that formerly worked for the S&WB on WWL made it seem like smoke and mirrors. I had to walk into the office mid call so didn't catch much other than the beginning.

I don't know but can someone make a gift of that picture. Start with some dumb shite Mitch has said and have it slowly zooming in on that dude on the right's "oh shite" face.
