If that was my kid, I'd demand the worker be given her job back and publicly thank her for the the overtime teaching.

If that was my kid, I would make him take a piece of notebook paper and write "tomorrow" until he/she fills up both sides of the paper while I demand the worker be given her job back.

I'm missing something here.

What is the problem with her response?

But, how can you not know there is an army of eager to be offended folks out there waiting to misconstrue an innocuous post?

If you meant it in a fun natured way, the idea that you could get fired probably doesn't even cross your mind.

Nothing. When I first read it, I honestly thought I was missing part of the story as well. I read the tweet and I scrolled down thinking "so what did she say?".. Then realized.. that was it.

The students spelling teacher should have been fired instead

If the student was black and the teacher white then I totally understand why the teacher was fired. Not saying I agree at all but I understand .

Nothing is wrong. The fact that this made the news and that someone actually made a thread about it is what's wrong with America today.

Maybe the teacher that responded is the spelling teacher.

I think the fact that it happened is a good reason for it to make the news.. So people can be aware of just how sensitive this country has become..

My daughter-in-law is a school teacher.( No i can't find any pictures). She has to walk a chalk line everyday to be politically correct. She tells me stories everyday. That is sad that teacher had to go through that. I sat in on a lot of executive sessions on the schoolboard because of teachers that were disciplined. I certainly kept an open mind in my decisions.

No, what is wrong with America today is the fact that people in charge (in this case, the retards who decided to fire someone over this) lack common sense.

I have a strong feeling this is the case. This is exactly why all my high school teachers wouldn't accept friend requests on Facebook from students until they had graduated. Sucks it has to be that way but it's really the only safe way to protect your job.

Then the firing was justified

Why would anyone want to be facebook friends with their teachers?

Idk, I wasn't. But you're naive if you think it doesn't happen all the time.
