One of my coworkers had PTSD really bad. He said he wasn’t too bothered by fireworks, but he felt it badly when he was in a car with an erratic driver in heavy traffic. He couldn’t ride in a car with his own girlfriend driving!
I think I’ll check in on him now…

Yeah I think it takes many forms. Mine is gunfire related so I think it’s the explosions.

Appreciate y’all. They are over now.

That is good news! You ever thought about getting out of town on “fireworks nights” so you don’t have to deal with it?
I’m sure you have someone that will let you stay at their hunting camp or something like that.

Yeah, you’d think I would have learned by now.
A buddy suggested that I find a town that celebrates on the 3rd- then go there for the 4th
Seems like I try to forget about until it’s too late. I’ll plan better next year. Thank you for replying

Appreciate what you are going through. It sucks. My little brother-in-law got blown up in Iraq and he suffers from it. He does not like New Years and The 4th. I hope people don't trivialize this stuff as my eyes were opened wide when I saw him drop to the ground and almost come to tears because a car backfired going down the road.

I appreciate you brother. Who says Aubies can’t be friends with Dawgs? Seriously though

Same. One especially, thirty years in the Marines with multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan, frickin LOVES the 4th. He sent me a picture earlier of him and his old lady on the beach, cigar hangin out of his mouth, American flag trunks, drink in hand and a full cooler next to him, two flags planted in the sand.

Because nobody likes your shitty, floppy frat dude haircuts. You, and Alabama lead in that category. And your limp sauce SEC East schedule before the divisions disappeared, and the shitty home game that is the SEC Championship game.
You have to get therapy, on the serious side. If you can sit through modern movies, but not fireworks in your neighborhood, there is a disconnect in your brain that needs to be remedied. Should you drive down I-10 like you were on Route Irish? Probably not, same war/non war circumstance.

Seek therapy and help yourself. No reason you should have to suffer needlessly. I pray that you find peace and comfort and thank you for your service if that’s what caused it. If not, get well friend.
