You mean to suggest that the story in the OP is slanted bullshite???

It’s a shame he just got executed.

New one seeking higher office.
I'd read the state supreme court order rejecting this ploy to free him. Tons and tons of evidence. He was caught with the victims' property. I'd reckon SCOTUS' reasoning is the same.
A DA and a defense attorney cant simply agree to vacate a conviction without evidence that fits the post-conviction relief standards.
Edit: Also, the DA wasn't saying he was innocent. The DA was actually making him plead to a life sentence to settle an issue of a Batson challenge from jury selection (which was ultimately found meritless by higher court).

It's a shame he killed someone and did nothing but spread misery his entire useless life.

Nope. He murdered another human being.

The family of the victim disagrees. Also, the DNA on the weapon of note was contaminated.

They agree he murdered her. Enough evidence for them, jury, State Supreme Court, and many many others. He was a thug piece of shite. No wonder you are sad he is dead.

This is a little disingenuous.
Completely different elected prosecutor leading to get him cleared. And only because it's politically expedient because he's running for higher office.
The dude was guilty.
Yea, the St. Louis County Prosecutor is a hardcore liberal who opposes the death penalty. That's all this is.
"during his first days in office Bell elected to stop prosecuting criminal child support cases...Bell was confronted in 2020 with a case from 2018, in which a resident of Jefferson County, Missouri, killed a woman. There was a major public outcry for Bell to seek the death penalty for [the convicted killer]] but Bell refused, keeping his campaign promise [to never seek the death penalty]"

From the article in the OP "Gayle Picus’ family, who believe that Williams is guilty" They just also now oppose the death penalty for him. Oh well.

The jury found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The same jury would have had to sentence him to death. What other bar is there to clear?
Well my post was in the context of fully accepting what was stated in the OP, which was that he was convicted based solely on the statements of an ex-girlfriend and a cellmate.
Assuming that's true, and that alone was enough to convince a jury, I can't support killing someone without more than that. Life in prison? Sure. Death? Nah. I want DNA, video, a confession, something more. Not just two people who don't claim to have even witnessed the murder and are testifying based only on what they say he told them.
