It’s a great part of FL to be in. Good airport. Bay Shore Drive. A lot of Midwest and eastern transplants kind of dilute the southern ness of Tampa so it doesn’t feel like the better parts of the Panhandle. Best restaurant is Colombia House in Ybor City area, you would not want to miss that one.

^^^All of this then throw in the third world element. Since the last economic crash Tampa is an absolute shite hole. Then you have this:
Hillsborough County is majority Dem mostly from North East.
Providing you have a Southern draw you better be at the top of your class because these people will try to eat you alive. Proceed with caution.

I've been here since 1987 apparently I've seen a little more than you. My statement on "shithole" does not apply as much to the areas south of Kennedy Blvd and north of Gandy Blvd. This area absorbed the crash better than the other areas of the Tampa Bay/Hillsborough County, mostly subdivisions in "New Tampa" and Northwest Hillsborough County as well as Brandon and Riverview. Providing you were here prior to the crash you would know exactly what I'm talking about.

What?? Are you saying New Tampa and Town N Country are shitholes? Your post is difficult to decipher.

Don't think "House" is part of the name, unless we're talking about two different places. Just "Columbia" is the name, right?

I enjoy Tampa/St. Petes. My dad lived near USF when I was younger so I spent a lot of time there. And I have had need to travel there occasionally for the last several years for work. Clearwater has great beaches, great fishing, great golf all over. It's hot as shite in summer but nothing anyone from the south can't handle. Florida has no state income taxes. Tampa is shielded from the worst parts of most hurricanes.

I've seen a trashy side of Tampa I am not fond of, but I don't think it's more than your average medium/large city.

Yes! My bad. But it is still a great restaurant. The branch at St. Armand’s in Sarasota is too.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things, does not belong.

One of my best friends lives in Clearwater. Whatever weather we got today in Greater New Orleans, they will get tomorrow.

They get hit with hurricanes, but Clearwater is well above sea level, so any flooding just sort of rises, falls, and drains off. They get the preliminary bad weather, the worst of the storm, the storm passes and they clean up and it's over, to put it succinctly. Of course, there's more involved than that, but not weeks of flooding, levee breaches, and crazy evacuation traffic.

If I ever had to leave here, permanently, this is an option I might explore.

Probably the best area in FL. A little more urban than the panhandle, not as touristy as Orlando, and not quite as dangerous as Miami. (I lived in the Bay area for a number of years in my 20's).

You pretty much left off the entire east coast of Florida.

Tampa is a cool city, and much better than Orlando.
