I also think texarkana is closer to Atlanta than el paso or it is close

Does have Arkansas pegged - cut a diagonal through it, two entirely different places

Only reason current arbitrary state lines matter more is because they are what's there, if they aren't defined by a river or other natural feature they are really arbitrary

That’s actually the exact opposite of how Africa is divided up and (one of the reasons) why there is so much turmoil over there

Map is pretty spot on with both where I'm from (Southeast Arkansas) and where I live now (Northwest Arkansas).

The Arkansas delta has way more in common with MS and north LA. NWA is a different planet, and has more in common with Michigan, North central US, etc. Hell, even the accents of locals here are northern in nature.

Funny how your type never wants to consolidate the Dakotas and/or Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and all the other sparsely-populated states out west.
