Somewhat? It is way overblown on here to the point that it is propaganda to scare people into paying more.

Oil could drop to $10 per barrel and it wouldn't hurt me or anyone in my family one bit. We have zero ties to anything oilfield related and everyone has stable jobs that have weathered and will weather down economies. In fact, part of my business booms in a down economy. That's why I don't fall for the whole BS people spew about prices. Let that shite bottom out. IDC.

The only thing I care about is what it does to the state but if it means we cut back some state jobs then I consider that a win as well. Louisiana has a crap load of state jobs. It's ridiculous really when you compare it to other states.

This oil situation is tough for me

I can understand market adjustments and snicker a bit at the company men, but it freaking crushes the service companies. They become first cuts in routes to salvage bottom lines.

YES! Graduating high school and starting my first year at LSU, I was filling up my truck for .74 a gallon at the gas station near my parent's house. Those where the days.

I'm a piping designer, and no one on the engineering side of things are worried at all. This is good for the U.S. We could get into politics, too, and discuss how we're buying American oil for a change instead of funding our enemies. At worst, we could've seen a little drop off of work for some guys, but it won't be an issue that progressively gets worse. It's extremely overblown. Don't let the news station try to scare you.

I don't like the low oil prices but to say everyone will feel it is BS. Even in LC where we are extremely industry independent we will be fine. Sure the Sasol gtl project might get pushed some because it is tied to oil but overall the chemical plants do better with lower oil prices because feed stock prices are lower.

people need to quit saying it affects everybody blah blah fricking blah. Its a stupid narrative. Nobody that is worth a shite minds if the state cuts back except professors. LA has so much waste we need some cuts.

quick side bar question. Is the government filling up the strategic oil petro storage facilities to ultra capacity now that oil is cheap?

actually I can guess the answer. king Obama has only hurt the US will malicious intent. The answer is probably NO. I would guess he is probably having it pumped out and sent to Iran or Libya.

I work in downstream chemicals as an operator and I'm not worried about this either. The sky is falling? I think not.
