Dear Lord, help us all.
I had the misfortune of going to SOI with the first training period that involved female marines TRYING (emphasis on trying) to complete the course. 16 of em went in and none completed the training. They were awful. If they allow females into the 03 field I'm turning in my ID and saying see ya to the Corps cause we're fricked if they allow that.

While true these aren't the most important things: #1 is mental toughness........I'll take a guy that's, while in shape, finishes in the bottom half of all recruits in endurance but you can't frick with him mentally. Those guys are like the Eveready Bunny.......they don't ever stop.
Great insight. Thanks. Again, I never served, so I don't know. I'm just going by what I think one would need.

I saw the other day where the Army is letting women become Rangers. Let's hope some of these silly PC social experiments go by the wayside when BHO leaves office.

I saw on one of those SEAL shows, or maybe read about it, where three candidates finished a grueling swim for what they thought was the end of the day towards the end of the course, the instructor says they've now got a 10 mile(some long run, ) one guy says he can't go on, the instructor says what about you two? aye, aye, let's do it, instructor says to them "you passed, hit the showers" and to the other one "you're gone, beat it"

If they can pass a physical or endurance test, why not let them participate?
If you read the short blurb in the OP, you'd notice that they are not banned and they can participate. They just can't pass the physical endurance test.

the USSR famously had several thousand female snipers during WW2, some among the very best.
The USSR also forced it's citizens to fight and if they refused, they would be killed. It's not like they went through extensive training.

boo frickin hoo
women don't need to be in any type of combat role, period, and that's for the obvious reasons beyond the physical ones.
Even if they could pass it, which seems like none ever will, i don't want them there. There's a comradery that forms when groups of men achieve something together and fight for each other. Allowing someone in that group that didn't pass the same tests, whether man or woman, is just not good for the group.
and the fact that none of them can pass this test further illustrates why Rhonda Rousey would get her arse kicked in seconds by most fit males on this planet.

And as a result they were well motivated

Tell me, how many women would be able to maintain combat military discipline if they saw the following in combat? Don't forget, A LOT of men cracked seeing stuff like this as well.
Okinawa
Guadalcanal
Okinawa
Guadalcanal

GeauxxxTigers23 wanted me to make the following points:
quote:
Endurance is even more important than strength. Combat is the very definition of "exhausting". And there are no "breaks". You never know when you'll be able to sleep or sit down again., or when your next meal will be. Women's bodies will break down faster. Quite frankly, they need to raise the standards for men too. There are plenty that aren't capable of doing the job now.
quote:
And even more important than physical strength is the fact that the people we fight simply don't respect women at all. Infantrymen in Iraq and Afghanistan did far more than just fight. They lived and worked in those towns and villages with the local populace. You think some sheik is going to respect or listen to a female? No way.
quote:
They also need separate living quarters, which is a mess that requires more money. And the biggest issue of all is the fact that the whole platoon wil be banging each other which sends good order and discipline right out the window. Frankly, physical weakness is one of the last things I'm worried about when it comes to women in combat situations.
