Yeah I know, but I'm trying to figure out why Italy has it so much worse than us at the moment.
I've found that there are 5,000 Chinese businesses in Prato, most of them in the textile industry. Since Italy's problems started in the northern part and Prato and most of their textile manufacturing is there, I'd assume it was caused by this.
I want to say that they got so many heavy clusters there that it got out of control fast before they could react and ours here are way more spread out. Who knows though.

You are right about "just getting here" fine. I think it is just now taking off. The majority if cases are still active and we were no where near peak and no where near knowing what mortality rate will be.
But there are people hanging their hat on the current number of deaths, which is fricking retarded for the exact reason I mentioned above. That really isn't that difficult to follow.

Didn’t trump ban travel from China last month? That was certainly helpful.

I'd argue we're not that spread out.
There's a reason there are Chinatowns across the US.
I think there is more to it, but what is hard to figure.
Maybe our timeline is right on when this first broke out in China and our travel ban gave us a few weeks. Otherwise we were too late.

It was going to get here no matter what.

bullshite. It’s been in China since October. It’s been here since not long after that and we just didn’t know it. We’ll never know for sure, but I’d bet tens of thousands of Americans have already had it over the course of the winter and recovered and have no idea they ever had it. I’m not going to trust China’s numbers, but it appears that in the 5-6 months it’s been there it has killed less than 10,000 in a densely population country of 1.4 billion.
Agreed. It is serious but no way it’s just getting here

Again, for the dullards who keep saying this, the mortality rate is at least 3x that of the flu.
And more people will die in Italy from the flu this year than Covid19. Stop calling people dullard, dullard.

Epidemiologists don't have adequate data at this point. Indications are that overall death rate is in the range of 2-3%, which is 20-30 times the rate of influenza. It is sad that governors and mayors are miles ahead of the president in leading the response.

Just last night on Hannity, Dr. Fauci said that the virus would be "ten times more lethal than the seasonal flu" with a mortality rate of 1 percent.
Tinfoil hat wearers will say that Fauci is trying to bring down the administration.

People saying we have 100 dead are fricking retarded. The virus just got to the states and is spreading very rapidly. The virus has barely had time to take its course with people in the US.
Jigga please. The beer flu has been here for months. The panic didn't set in until impeachment failed, Dem primaries self imploded, and a bunch of retards running a nursing home in WA let dozen octogenarians die.

The flu ain't going away either. People act like this is just gonna replace the flu and influenza viruses see gonna magically disappear. COVID-19 is here to stay so it seems.
Posted on 3/12/20 at 12:37 am to Mike da Tigah
We don’t know how long the virus has been here or how many people it has infected. Hell, it may have been here last year.

The virus has very likely been here for a while, we just weren’t testing for it.
I mean, how many people had the virus and thought they just had the flu, so they stayed home and got better and never became a statistical part of the coronavirus?

Holy shite you're serious?

Posted on 3/12/20 at 4:32 am to Mike da Tigah
I mean, accuracy should be the goal of the media at all times but that doesn't get clicks. The reality of it is that concern is warranted, panic is not. Basic hygiene should be followed, paying close attention to hand washing, specifically hand washing well. "Social Distancing" should also be followed if able.
