What time do they do the drawings?

For Louisiana cutoff time:

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday evening at 9:59 p.m. in Tallahassee, Florida. Make sure you buy your tickets for eachPowerball drawing by 9 p.m. on the day of the drawing. Tickets purchased after 9 p.m. on drawing nights will be valid for the next drawing(s). Powerball winning numbers are displayed on Official Draw Show stations every Wednesday and Saturday night and updated on this website.

if they hit 1 billion...what will the big powerball signs say since they only have 3 spaces

I texted my friends the same message. The billboard on I-10 and College only has 3 digits and "millions" is embedded at the bottom. Do they add a thousand place or change millions to billions?

At this point, why even take the lump sum? What can you do with $558M immediately that you can't with $30M per year?

The annuity scheduled for a person winning in LA according to USAmega.com would be
1 $13,546,292(gross) $3,386,573(fed tax) $677,315(LA tax) $9,482,404(net)

but that's assuming Fed tax is at 25%, you'll be on the hook for an extra 14.6% because your "income" is above $413,200

That doesn't sound right. Is it still 25 annual payments?

buy a pro sports franchise

You need a lot more than just money to buy a pro team in a reputable league. I'd bet any money that any of the big 4 leagues would require at least one if not a few more people to be in your group before considering allowing a lotto winner in.

The only ones you could even afford outright would be MLS or maybe an NHL team.

Also got to factor in that you now have to pay a SHITLOAD in taxes and salaries as well as millions per year in inventory/building management. And that's after you spent nearly everything on the purchase price.
