I didn't think of this until someone on Facebook mentioned it but if your heater is gas, the blower is 110v and can plug right into the generator. Luckly we have battery powered thermostats too. We now have heat!

The blower just plugs into an extension cord.

there should be a normal 110 outlet next to your heater unit. Unplug the unit and plug it into your generator.

I have a 8000W and run my 120V to my dryer plug. I turn my main breaker off and turn on what I want to run. My hot water heater is electric. I can run it by itself if nothing else is running. Much easier to do this than running a bunch of extension cords into the house.

You're backfeeding through your dryer plug?

Most cars have a 110v outlet nowadays. Just run an extension cord to your vehicle and you are good to go.

Just run your cord through your dryer exhaust and plug it in, that way you don’t have a window cracked or a door cutting your cord.

Yes works fine. As long as you turn off the main breaker you won’t back feed past the breaker box.
