2000+ blitz is really impressive. When did you start playing?

I only got to 1125 or so on blitz but I intentionally avoid trying to memorize openings because it can become a massive time sink. 1300 rapid.

850-1000 on 10 minute games. I’m convinced that 850-900 is better players than 900-1000. When I dropped into that rating area took me forever to climb out then I climbed out to 950 pretty quickly.

I played competitively when I was a kid and picked it back up when I was in my late 20's online. I'm 34 now.

I think if I started as and adult I wouldn't have been able to get that high. It seems similar to learning a musical instrument at a young age makes it easier to pick back up later.

I think if you can get out of the 1100-1300 range it will be easier to improve. There is something weird about that band of players bc it always seems like a meat grinder. I think there are a lot of new accounts that use engines in those ratings that havent been banned yet.

As a recommendation: this series will help LINK

Mine is trash because I mostly get extremely stoned and play 3 mins and 10 mins blitz in the evenings.

I do play in local tournaments quite a bit. Shoutout to the Memphis Chess Club, absolutely beautiful and great club. HIGHLY recommend a trip there if anyone is ever in town.

1287 on 10-minute games.

Started out REAL rough until I settled into it. I still prefer playing much slower but never really able to justify taking an hour plus away from reality.

I've been petty before. Especially if they say anything in the chat

I'm not great, but it's fun.

My claim to fame is I finally beat a friend that's a 1250 range (after he waxed me 16 times straight).
