It's like looking into the future with my pup. Even has the white spot on his chest.
Did you Goldens have long hair as puppies though?

No. I had a picture of them as pups, but I can't find them. I'll post them later if I come across them.

Mine didn't, and for the longest time I thpught he wouldn't.
I see a bumper in 1 pic though. Training your pup to hunt or is it just for fun?

I was in the same boat. I think the ones that are bred down south tend to have shorter hair. I even was putting olive oil in their food for a while during winter.
As far as the bumper goes, I trained him pretty religiously as a pup. Unfortunately he is terrified of gun fire. He can retrieve with the best of them but when he sees the gun come out he runs and hides. It's pretty ironic since his name is gunner. Anyway it is now just a game that he loves. I don't hunt enough to justify working with him to get over the gun shyness.

I would be the same way.
My pup isn't scared of guns, but he isn't to keen on water yet.
Honestly, if I take my dog hunting all the time, and shoot hundreds of ducks, and he only retrieves one of duck, I will be a happy man.

This might be the best thread I've seen here. You guys have some awesome dogs.

Thats what its all about. I've really only taken him once and honestly, he was scared of the gun but when he saw the duck fall he was fired up. The problem was the pond I was hunting had an old barb wire fence that ran through it, and the duck happened to fall right were it ran. I didn't want him to get caught on that so I didn't send him.
I think the water loving will come. Mine can't get enough of the water. His favorite thing to do is to retrieve his bumper out the water.
