Broadmoor is probably the best public school in Lafayette. In the private world there are a bunch of good ones.

ETA: Broadmoor is an elementary school

so you know your way around.

Some good recommendations in here, but it also depends on what part of town you will be working.

You picked a good time. Real estate prices are under heavy downward pressure. You can probably save some money.

We will catch you on the flip side, SlowFloPro. But you may overestimate how much Lafayette folks think about Lake Charles. Consider this exchange from Casablanca:

Ugarte: You despise me, don't you?

Rick: If I gave you any thought I probably would.

Having lived in Lake Charles for one year, I moved back to Lafayette as soon as I could, boom or bust. Get rid of all the refineries in the bad smells, and Lake Charles might actually have something.

My sisters and I all went to Woodvale/Alleman/Lafayette. Sister currently teaches at Alleman. Very solid schools. My mom tried sending us to Tuerlings for a couple of years and we all ended back in that district. Be careful where you buy, the school board is about to do a huge redistricting plan. You can always build in Youngsville, get your kids into a magnet, or go the Catholic route if you cant find a home in that district.

Also heard some good things about Maurice. One of my sister's and her husband just built a huge house there. All they do is rave about North Vermillion and how Lafayette is just a quick drive down Johnston.

Don't live in Lafayette. Move to Youngsville or Broussard. Thank me later. I'll meet you at Corner Bar and you can buy me a beer for this solid advice.

Based on the current district map, where would I have to live in order for my kids to attend those schools?
