My wife's phone got several warnings. Mine, none. I walked outside around 3 ish and the lightening was impressive.

I'm not going to b/c it was at 3 AM and most people were asleep... but going back through the NWS tweets... I didn't even see a severe t'storm warning for the affected area as the storms came through last night

WU sent me an alert yesterday afternoon saying "possibility of severe weather in your area in the next 24 hours". I LOLd cause I though it was a mistake. Guess not.

My neighbor has had a dead tree for years that was leaning my way. Luckily the wind took it down into his yard. Winning.

Good thing that it went into his yard. Lots of trees down all over Ball.

Not the ones that were getting rocked by storms and winds.

I didn't get woke up, but last couple times that it was really bad I was and it was nice to turn on to KALB and see that we in fact were not in the path of a tornado.

another look at the house sliced in 2 by the tree on Leah St. in Ball

what interests me is the branches in the driveway are laying right to left while the tree fell over from foreground to background

Literally could have been me if this happened when I was younger. That house is several houses down from the house I grew up in.

I remember that dairy queen. I've been there before.

They had great ice cream, and the sno ball place close to it was legit.

updated the OP... NWS Lake Charles has confirmed a high-end EF1 tornado struck Ball early this morning

Alexandria Town Talk

quote:

A F-1 tornado ripped through the Ball and Tioga areas early Thursday, leading residents to later question why they got no warning before it struck.

No injuries were reported, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

Sonya Wiley-Gremillion of the Rapides Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed to her that the storm was a tornado, more toward the higher range of a F-1.

Some damages were caused by winds as high as 90 mph, she said.

The NWS crew still was assessing in Tioga and Deville on Thursday afternoon. The damage in Deville appears to have been caused by heavy winds, said Wiley-Gremillion.
