overrun with snobbish mexican nationals,

Can you elaborate on this? I haven't encountered this group. How are they snobbish and what differentiates them from other Mexicans besides income and education?

fighting off Houston annexation, the place has moved away from George Mitchell's vision unfortunately...

Being annexed by Houston was definitely the opposite of his vision, I do agree it's changed quite a bit from the good old days though, not a quiet suburb anymore. It's a small city unto itself

Quite a few wealthy Mexicans have second homes in The Woodlands or have moved their families over entirely. Because The Woodlands is a very "new money" area compared to places inside the loop it was kind of the area they could get into. I don't think typecasting the entire group is fair at all, some are great people and some are extremely stuck up. I think with the latter group, the issue is not being used to living in a community with a lot of other well educated and well off folks.

If you aren't being offered enough to afford your own apartment why move.

I would be able to afford my own apartment, but I'm looking to minimize my cost of living in order to maximize my savings potential before the family joins me.
