The major difference is one impacts a host of major cash crops and the other doesn't. Add to that the Apple snail's destruction is basically unseen and you don't get much impetus to stop it.
Anecdotally I have seen fewer of the pink Apple snail egg clutches on the Diversion in the last couple of years. There were a few years it seemed like every other piling had one on them. Maybe they destroyed so much of their food source that it has become limiting on their population.

Pretty sure Europeans were the invasive species in Americas. Although technically just about all human DNA came from African way back when.

Pretty sure those are the same snails I would see when I was a kid in Okinawa back in early 60s… they would show up now and then and be everywhere….
