So just like anytime there is an address, except instead of half these baboons applauding everything, they all are. How many of these assholes read the Second Vatican Council? My bet is ZERO.

I think you are confusing kings and the Church. It was the kings of the various European states that were ordering the persecution of those not aligned with their theology, not the Church.

The only people who recognize the Vatican as a sovereign nation are the same yahoos who recognize Scientology as a religion, Palestein as a country and south Dakota as a state. It's a fricking joke, they even have to borrow military from Finland.

They are also confusing religions and timelines......

What did South Dakota ever do to Lucas?

Man, so many trolls with no clue about history or religious theory. Just be glad that Congress is being spoken to by a decent human being for once.

That's a topic for a different thread. Suffice it to say that the Iraq war could have been better spent at home invading a certain "south" abomination.

Since the Vatican is its own nation, isn't the Pope also considered a head of state? Seems those have addressed Congress from time to time.
He is. He's also the head representative of an organization that has well over a billion members. I really don't understand the opposition, and I am by no means religious or do I recognize his "divine" authority. It's just people bitching to bitch which given the source is pretty ironic.

So if a lot of people like him then it's justified? Scientology is pretty big, a lot of people like Matchbox 20. Maybe next week we can have a congressional doubleheader with L Ron and Rob Thomas?

I love Pope Francis, but I'm disappointed that he mentioned Dorothy Day. She was a legit commie. But oh well.

You're kind of stupid huh Lucas?

You should probably abandon this thread. I appreciate the effort, but it is falling flat.

It is of course absurd to argue that the person of God in Jesus Christ advocates for one economic system over another, but knowing what we know in year 2015 about the terrible human suffering caused by government redistribution schemes, I think it's safe to say Communism is anti-Christian.

No. At it's core communism is very Christian. The human implementation of communism is not. I don't recall Jesus ever saying anything remotely like "Go get yours!"

Don't do that.

At its core, Communism is a brutal, tyrannical, totalitarian form of government that has never once in all of human history been able to consistently provide BASIC services to the people over which it has ruled. That's not Christian. Charity is Christian. Helping the weak is Christian. It isn't 1925 anymore. You can't with a straight face argue that that is what Communism does in theory or in practice.
