Actually, He did say people could "get theirs" but that if they wanted to get into the Kingdom of Heaven, they better take care of their fellow man BY THEIR OWN VOLITION (i.e., not under the sword of the government).

Ergo, not a communist or a socialist.

No. You still can say that it is in theory. In theory it relies on the altruism of people. It just isn't a very realistic idea. In practice the ideas behind its principles have never and are never actually applied. In practice it is used as an oppressive tool by an oligarchy to steal from the public and fortify their position.

When a theory fails time and again after numerous attempts at implementation, it ceases to even be a legitimate theory. It becomes a fallacy. The theory that Communism is an altruistic system is not even a theory anymore. It is just a fallacy.

Serious response: I think it has worked on very small scales. There's communes out there where like minded people have small communities with communal property. Saying it's not realistic on a big scale is a legitimate criticism but saying it's never worked and it's somehow inheritanty evil is kinda short sighted. Communism can't work now but as technology gets us closer to a post-scarcity economy it might be a viable option in the future.

Or it might not be, but you shouldn't dismiss it out of hand because bad people fricked it up in the past.

I don't dismiss it because bad people fricked up in the past. I dismiss it because everyone fricked up in the past. I have no doubt that sharing and caring works fine on hippie communes, but a modern state is not a commune.

You are missing the point. Nobody said it works. I said that in its ideals, it fits more with Christianity that capitalism.

If I told you there was a way for everyone to live in peace and all of humanity would be free from want, you would tell me I am full of shite. That's the point. Communism is a lie. It's no more Christian than any other falsehood.

Yeah not so much. Read Karl's manifesto or listen to that Jon Lennon song. Every government fricked it up. The end game to a true communist isn't a communist government, it's no government. I don't think you have a firm grasp on what real communist philosophy states.

Yeah, I get that that's what they say. And I get that it sounds good to people. But it isn't true. That's the point.
