Poor Oprah- Shocked by backlash and 'online attacks'

She's just trying to help you.
Nearly two weeks after Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson launched their fund to help Maui wildfire victims, Oprah is responding to the backlash.
Both Winfrey, 69, and Johnson, 52, committed $5 million each to get the People's Fund of Maui started, stating in a video that the money would be directly distributed to those in need who were affected by the fires in the historical town of Lahaina.
However, many were angered that Winfrey - with a reported net worth of $2.8 billion - and Johnson - reportedly worth $800 million - are still asking for fans to chip in.
..
Oprah reflected on one of the lessons of her new book, adding, 'Well, this is a really great point about being happier in the midst of an onslaught of being terrorized and vilified online.
'I will say this. I came out of this experience with so much more compassion for young kids, because I was thinking, what if I didn't really know who I am? It will take you out.
'So all of the online attacks, lies, conspiracy theories, really took the focus off of what was the most important thing, which is the people of Maui,' Oprah explained.
...
She said "Listen, I'm trying to sell my book to those foolish white women. Can we just move along?" J/K

She owns about a quarter of a percent of the island of Maui. Must be nice.

This is just people who don't want to and won't donate anything whining about others who are actually donating.
After 9/11, there was a huge thing on TV with a bunch of famous people asking for donations, I don't recall 1/1000th of the complaining about that as compared to this. It's just what society has devolved into, just complain about everything no matter what.

They are democrats, they always want your money.

Shel shilling for billionaires.

Well the ones that align with his world view anyway
This is the part where you disappear without answering my question like the other 100s of posters I've taken to task and not a single one has ever provided a correct answer.

So what is oprah doing? oh yeah, complaining.
And now you are complaining about anonymous people and shilling for the billionaire.

quote:Was it all democrats that wanted your money after 9/11? Why didn't anyone complain then but everyone is freaking out about the exact same thing being done now?
They are democrats, they always want your money.
And actually, not the exact same thing. For 9/11, a bunch of celebrities asked you to donate money, and you had no clue if they donated, and the masses still didn't care but all of a sudden it matters now.
It's just a case of people being told what to believe and following along, 100%.

quote:Again, you're not making sense, just like the other guy.
And now you are complaining about anonymous people and shilling for the billionaire.
Both of you just keep repeating that without even trying to address the facts I laid out, because you can't do so logically. You know that, feel free to admit it.

On Amazon for those interested.
100% of proceeds goes directly to Oprah's grocery bill and wig makers.

Stout started a thread judging Oprah and the rock for not giving enough of their money, and the OT jumped in in unison
When I pressed stout on why he doesn’t give more of his money to people in need, he and others said that was extremely rude and ignorant to judge him for what he chooses to do with his money
It was awesome to watch hypocrisy like that in warp speed

look, i'm no fan of Oprah (or celebrities in general), but this is stupid. she isnt obligated to donate a red fricking cent, and $5 million dollars is a lot of money regardless of how big the denominator is.
that said, i'm still all-in on the conspiracy theory that she actually started the fires.

She's Megan Markel's mentor.
No wonder Megan is so disliked.

They're arguing with emotion, I'm talking facts and logic.
