I love seeing people rise up from the rubble. Happy someone from the slums of Juneau in the Mendenhall Bloc could make it out despite all their inherent obstacles (like having an alcoholic, swinger *step* grandfather that couldn’t hold steady employment)

Nope. We shared custody.
How many children have you had?
How long have you been married?

I'm sure you do, as they pass you stuck on third base, where you were born and still inhabit.

Thats not how it works.
She won the State debate last year, went to Nationals in Des Moines. These events often have multiple participants and cant be done remote.
I should have gone with her, LSU was in Omaha at the same time. I didnt plan well.

Domestic regional travel to see sights or visit friends and family has been part and parcel of Americana for nearly 100 years.
Yep! I’m not that old, but growing up 30 years ago we did one regional vacation (driving) per year usually. There might be another mini-trip to a nearby city for a family wedding or something. Definitely no air travel for us. But my grandparents flew all the time. My dad would drive till he couldn’t anymore. We’d pick up the hotel coupon books at rest areas. It was a lot easier to spend less on hotels back when all the cheaper ones weren’t covered in used needles. Not even an option today for a normal person.

Wake forest is god awful value for money.
Its not stellar, but its rankings are a lot better than most State schools and the recruiters did a good job selling it to her.
I dont anticipate her going to WF

These the same recruiters that flew in from Harvard that don’t exist?

Yep.
Dartmouth as well. Juneau Schools offer much more opportunities. Unfortunately, you had to go to school in La.

It’s ranked behind several SEC schools and would provide little in network connections compared to duke and unc (both cheaper).

As I’ve explained to you already, Harvard doesn’t have recruiters. They utilize local alumni networks to do recruiting.
You’d actually know that if you knew people that went to Harvard

We have two in this house that are qualified..
One of them grew up with no parents (dead) and her grandparents died a year ago, which is how she wound up here.

LSU-s and U of Alaska.
I'm squarely State University material myself.
We all cant be scholars.

So, your sense of superiority comes from your granddaughter potentially going to Wake Forest? What am I missing here?
