Good for him. The world needs more independent minded young men.

Only trained law enforcement officers and first responders are allowed to search
Yeah ok. How many kids have those cops searched for, or found? Are first responders typically trained to track individuals through the woods? They need someone with tracking experience. Maybe some of the cops and first responders have that experience, but seems the more people looking for him, the better.

When we locate James, if he does possess that firearm, we have people trained to deal with that situation in the best case possible for the outcome for those who are searching for him and for James,” Schram said."
Is the kid dangerous? Do they expect him to be violent and shoot at the police, or anyone looking for him?

Maybe he's planning on coming in when it gets cold, starting a YouTube channel, going on talk shows, and monetizing his experience.
He's probably a Boy Scout and mom and dad are in on it.

It features a boy who learns courage, independence, and the need for companionship while attempting to live in the Catskill Mountains of New York State.
One would need quite a bit of gumption to survive the hokey “inside baseball” Jewish jokes from the comedians in the Catskills in the ‘60’s. Are the Catskills still a thing these days, or does everyone from NYC vacation in Miami? Honestly, the last time I’ve heard about the Catskills was in the 80’s/90’s when Mike Tyson trained there.
