You don’t know that.
There was no need to shoot in that situation it would appear.
Reminds me of that incident where the security guard pulls a gun on the officer, and when his fellow officers get there, he says, “well we should charge home with something, he pulled his gun/has his gun out.” How many times do police pull guns on people?
There does not appear to be justification for this shooting. But they will say something about the vehicle being a weapon to defend the officers actions. This would be murder with anyone else. Even if he had a gun and drugs, maybe the gun was legal and maybe he was just smoking some weed? Even if worse, you don’t know he was the one people called about or that he was a violent person, but they never give people the benefit of the doubt. Just shoot people. That level of action should be an absolute last resort.

I love how these idiots say they murdered him. He refused to comply and had a weapon. They gave him a warning shot with a bean bag and he tried to drive off. If the man wanted to live all he needed to do was follow simple and common sense orders. This was Suicide by cop.
In the article I read, it said they were getting a search warrant for the car to see if the man had a gun. Seems like they would have done that when they removed the body for paramedics. They had reports that SOMEONE in the parking lot MAY have had a gun.

I think they should prop up his dumbass dead body and use it for target practice.

Doing drugs in the parking lot is what the call was about. They don’t even know if the call was about him specifically.
What is the justification for shooting here? Driving away? Unless he was about to ram someone, you don’t have reason enough in my opinion to just shoot at someone.
So what if he had drugs? Does that deserve a death sentence?
If he had a gun, was he wielding it? No. Maybe he did, I don’t know, but it was only speculation. Sure they will say he was reaching for something if he did have a gun.
Maybe they were justified. I don’t know. While I am not a fan of people who won’t take care of themselves, I don’t believe in shooting at people so freely. Seems crazy to me.

So many people here watching and recording. What we need is for people to immediately retaliate. Would the cops shoot the whole neighborhood?
Jesus people are f'ing retarded

It's always a great idea to get into your car when cops have guns trained on you.

It was a bean bag shot, not a real bullet.
So they killed him for driving off? Are we not capable of doing better than this? The guy was either an idiot or crazy, but this seems awfully lazy.

Doing drugs in a parking lot and trying to flee the cops in a Prius is the most Austin thing I've seen in a while.

Bootlickers are out in force in this thread.
Read what happened here and keep telling yourself they won't take your guns.
They came after him because someone reported he had a gun. Is it illegal to have a gun?
They blast him with a bean bag while his hands are up.
Kill him as he drives away.
Where was the threat?

There is a very big difference between being ordered by the government to confiscate the legally-owned guns of private citizens and responding to a man with a gun call.
Cops aren't going to take your guns, bro. I say this as a gun-loving and owning conservative male.
Most of them love guns more than we do.

Are you claiming that police responding to a call placed by the general public about a man with a gun is not very different from police being ordered by politicians to go house-to-house confiscating legally-owned weapons?
Dude.

If he was doing drugs while carrying a gun then it is a felony.
ETA: Sounds like they were conducting a felony stop. They had reason to believe that he had a gun and drugs, but they did not get a chance to confirm before he tried to drive away. If he had complied he would be alive right now, it sucks that he was too stupid to live.

Doesn't sound like they ever actually saw a gun.
So you're good with cops blasting a guy because someone claims he has a gun and is doing some reefer.
You comply or die clowns are in for a rude awakening.

I'm good with cops neutralizing threats. Not sure if you heard about the armed suspect who shot and killed two police officers in cold blood yesterday morning. Or the guy who shot and killed a former BRPD officer yesterday.
Should they wait and make sure they see a gun and the suspect is going to shoot at them before they make a move? Cops put themselves on the line each day and have to work off of the information that was given to them.
What would you, a normal citizen, do if 4 armed police officers were drawing their guns on you? Would you give yourself up, or try to jump in your car and leave? Criminals would try to hop in a car. Normal people would comply and sort it out later.
