The female witness in the vehicle states the assumed perp stated for the driver to get out of the car. When she didnt, she was shot. Then stated he shot me. Witness put car in reverse and it went into neighbors yard.
Initially that area isn't known for foot traffic that would be car jacking someone. Especially wearing a mask. Doesn't really add up.
So my guess is it's some young moron who had no idea what he was doing panicked and it turned deadly.
The ski mask part is the key. No one car jacks with a ski mask on unless it's planned (no way of knowing this woman would be there at that exact time) or the perp thought he'd be recognized.
Stuff isn't adding up.
Eta: looked the area up on a map. Exactly where I thought. While the apartments on flannery would be and are a red flag, where this happened in relation and how it happened is not making sense. That is a remote area of that neighborhood and a far way for someone to walk and wait for a random vehicle to show up.
I want whoever did it caught. But I wouldn't jump to conclusions on this one. Something smells fishy.

It was a female friend- idiot
Calm down brocephus, I was just asking a question? At the time I don't think they had identified the friend yet. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, and I'm not going to jump to any conclusions. I hope they catch the bastard who did this.

Don't underestimate the impulsivity of a cracked-out thug. Could've been strung out and saw a somewhat well-to-do white woman roll-up and thought that was his chance. I don't want this to be random as I live in Broadmoor and hate to think that our neighbors are at such a risk, but it's entirely possible.

The woman in the vehicle didn't say this. Her fiance spoke for her. This was a statement from the neighbor across the street that said he heard the guy say that and then the gunshot. The car then went into the passengers yard, not the neighbor's.

Motherfricker . I know these people (the victims).
I can 99.999999% promise you that there was nothing questionable going on in this family....this was a random act of violence that shows what a shithole this city has become.

I was thinking the same thing, considering the rats that live north of florida boulevard are in close proximity to Broadmoor. The ski mask scenario does seem odd, considering that the rats that pull off an attempted car jacking, negate hiding their identity. It’s possible, yet feels off.
Now there’s yet another cold-blooded murderer roaming the streets of BR not afraid of taking human life over car.

It's Baton Rouge, nothing shocks me anymore
the thugs are getting more and more brazen and are rolling up in "no crime" areas...

That plus it's not like that is some high traveled street. It's a remote area in a residential neighborhood. Not where you would THINK someone looking to steal a car would be hiding in the bushes with a ski mask.
That's how detectives think. I'm not accessing or saying I know something because I dont. It certainly could end up being some thug trying his first crime or something and just fricking things up royally.
My point is this. Some hardened criminal is not waiting on that residential street corner in a ski mask looking to steal a car. That makes ZERO sense looking at it without any passion.

Sherwood/Broadmoor has people nightly checking door handles for unlocked vehicles. It is possible he was doing such, had ski mask in back pocket, and decided spur of moment to go for the car jack.
