Plumbing question- Washing machine related

So Friday night I thought my pipes in the detached garage had frozen burst so I shut all the water off and was just going to deal with it when it warmed up.
However, when I went out to fix the pipes today and turned my water back on it turns out my leak was actually from the washing machine.
Basically when the hot water to the garage is on it continually runs into the washing machine on its own even when the machine is not on. Anybody know what the problem could be?

What is your water bill every month?
Sounds like the valve insode the washer to shut off the water is broken/ leaking

I feel like it has to be related to the cold weather. Is there any reason cold weather would cause this and is there any chance once it warms up it will correct itself or am I looking at replacing the valve?

I heard the hoses on a washer will freeze quickly. I know nothing about how the valves in a washer are made, but if water froze in the lines/pipes/valves it might have forced the valve open. If it's running thru now, I doubt it'll fix itself.

So, it’s not leaking water on the floor, it just continues to fill the tub in the washing machine?
Sounds like the valve is stuck open ( Capt. Obvious, I know). You can order the value assembly, or even pick it up at a local parts place, and fix yourself. Not a difficult job on most machines.

the fill valve for the hot water is bad, some have a dual one, some have separate ones but its an electric solenoid that opens to fill the machine as needed.
turn off hot water valve going to it and make sure everything else works ok and doesnt leak before buying parts, if other stuff is bad/broken then it might be better/smarter to replace it then repair it.

The former looks to be electric, the latter is manual.

The valve inside the washer is plastic, it probably froze and cracked.
