This excuse was valid the first couple of weeks but after 2 months it became evident that there was a lack effort put forth by teachers. Emailing daily homework with zero instruction is just flat out lazy.
A simple video of you teaching to the class would have been sufficient. Maybe a weekly 1 on 1 zoom call to fill in any holes where the student is struggling.

the problem is, as stated by others above - i can say that my inlaws have gotten so many complaints/blow back from parents for wanting to do just this it is laughable.

I was spouting off about some recent hero branding some have done for teachers and disagree with it.
Mind you, the intent wasn't to belittle teachers as a whole, but it spun out of whack a bit (I suppose my fault).
The strings lady here seems to have gotten a bit sideways, and that's been somewhat entertaining

ok, to be fair, we have some teachers who have taken the initiative for weekly virtual "office visits". But, again, my original intent was about the hero labeling not necessarily bashing teachers. ugh.

I have been woefully unimpressed with their ability to gel (and manage) online content. They cannot even put it on a single platform as each does it differently.
My other kid got nada. No effort at all. Public schools were in a tight spot, if they went ahead with programming they would have been unable to get half the students on board because the parents are apathetic and lazy.

I'm not a teacher, but dealing with your own kids is way different from dealing with 30-35 kids in a class who aren't yours.
As far as difficulty managing online learning, I have some sympathy, as none of them thought they'd have to do it until March. You spend your time preparing for in person work and suddenly everything changes.
