Hopper's drive in. I think they put the tray of food on your car window like in American Graffiti.

University Theater at the end of State Street.
I have yet to see a picture of that.
I remember a drive in in New Orleans, and in my young mind it seemed to be in the median of I-10.
Shoney's Big Boy on Florida.
A good spin-off thread would be things you can't believe are still open in Baton Rouge. Highland Hardware, Fleur De Lis Pizza.

Does anyone remember a restaurant called "Poets" on the west side of College Drive just south of I-10? There was also a Coffee Call in the same shopping center, I think. Circa 1978.
What about an old pizza/Italian place on the west side of Airline in the EKL area? What was its name?

What about the Mill on Essen had pretty good sandwiches.
Does anyone remember a restaurant around LSU that had a tree growing in the middle of the building about 33-34 years ago? Ate there for LSU game as a kid.

I could've sworn there was a go-kart track on Florida Blvd as well as an RC car track.
Slick track at Florida and little john.
There was an RC shop and track across Florida from the broadmoor theater down the little dead end road next to Midas. I spent a lot of time and grass cutting money in that place. He had the biggest got damn tarantula in there that I am still scared to fricken death of 25-30 years later

You might be thinking about a place called "The Gumbo Shop". It was in that small two story shopping plaza behind Godfather's Pizza on the corner of Higland and Chimes (Basically directly behind the Bayou). I seem to remember it was two story with a large tree in the middle.

I liked The Mill. Kurt Holder and other solo guitar acts would play in there at night. It was nice. Didn't they brew their own beer, which was a bit of a new thing back then, especially for B.R.

It was a fancy steak restaurant before that, called Jack Sabin's.

All this nostalgia and no mention of Murphys, Paradise Records, Bayou Humidor, or the original Cuban Liquor or the original Uncle Earls?
