Ownership sounds awesome. If I was looking for this kind of gig, then sign me up.
while what they're doing right now may be the best course of action at this point in time, the question then becomes how did they let it get to this point?

usually when people come to interview - I’m going to assume they want to work However, many times people just want a paycheck

Everybody wants a paycheck. They need money to survive. Working is a means to that end.

If you’re interviewing properly, you shouldn’t have to fire everybody. If you’re training properly, you shouldn’t have to fire everybody.

These are simple rules of management.

Accountability by management here means acknowledging their failures in these two areas, not publicly blaming a staff that they literally picked and trained themselves.

Back in the day, I was a minimum wage employee who gave a shite. They might have been part-time jobs and I was just a student worker but I cared about doing my job well and knowing that management could depend on me.

I think this was pretty common with past generations. Kids worked minimum wage jobs and actually gave a shite (in general) because they had been taught work ethic by their parents and because they wanted money to hangout with friends, have a car, etc

I'm 31 so that was already on the way out when I was young but it's even more true now that kids generally don't have a great work ethic and many of them don't want to drive and don't need money because they can just sit at home and play video games or whatever.

Chicfila has obviously found a work around for this issue as they recruit at a lot of church youth groups and such so they pull the kids who are more likely to have had a solid home life, learned a good work ethic, etc

This has worked so well for Chicfila that now they're viewed as the "cool" place to work for that demographic and also, it looks better on the kid's early work history than working at McDonald's or something.

The problem is those kids used to be relatively easy to find, even a place with crappy management could get good employees, now it's a small group.

Last time I ordered a Johnny's Pizza, from the store closest to Tech, it looked, and tasted like Pizza Hut, Thick crust, too much sauce and really cheesy tasting. First thing I thought of was the cook must have worked at PH at some point & just made pizza like he did there.
Hope they fired that person.

I’ve had the unfortunate experience of having to be in Meridian 8-10 times since August and before that, I had never been there.

When I tell you I despise that place, I can’t stress it enough. What a complete and utter depressing shithole that place is
