Because uber is an improvement over most taxicab companies. Delivery pizza from Dominos is barely an improvement over frozen pizza.

The job is one and the same....you are a single to small group destination driver. Cabs have "apps" too and even something called dispatch for ~80 years.
There is no improvement, only exposure and resulting belonging to a hive mentality. Just like the cumstains that thought gameboys were for childish dorks 15 years ago, but now the play all kinds of cool games on their iPhones.....I mean it's like 7 mins abs....8 min abs is ridiculous!
