You're right. I'm just a beta. There's nothing to worry about. Pit bulls have NEVER been known to attack, maim or kill people without provocation.

the obvious solution to this problem is to go get your own pitbulls to counter the neighbors pitbulls. you should get four so they know you aren't playing around.

Oh, no. I was only suggesting he maybe cut both dog’s throats and nail them upside down to the neighbor’s front door while they bleed out. Maybe write a note in their blood warning him to never bring another such dangerious animal to the neighborhood. Nothing too extreme.

if it is in your yard and so much as looks at you funny shoot the damn dog. I've seen one eat 4 rounds from a .45 in the chest like it was nothing. it was a big stray that was after us while bow hunting.

Pit Bull board is needed...

Be very careful and vigilant. Similar issue I dealt with. Neighbors had 2 pits. Had attacked 2 times before. 3rd attack was my daughter
It was a blood bath.
Once they taste blood it will only get worse.
I would call the PD anytime they are out without a leash. Eventually animal aid or pd will address the issue.
Don't let your daughter get anywhere near those dogs. My daughter was attacked 50 feet from me and I was on top of her within 10-15 seconds and they ripped her arms and legs to pieces.
It has been 1.5 years and she is still covered in scars and terrified of any large dog.
Do anything you can to have those dogs terminated.

Animal Aid in my city has the same attitude. Neighbor 2 doors over had 2 dogs that attacked twice. Both times animal aid picked them up for 10 days and returned to owner with no additional guidelines or being labeled as viscous. 3rd attack was my family. It is still in pending litigation against Animal Aid and dog owners.

This is a neighborhood with LOTS of dogs, of pretty much every breed. Dozens of dogs every day go down my street. The only dogs I know of that have attacked anyone or any thing are my neighbor's dogs. If there had been attacks by other dogs, I promise I would have heard about them.
You wanna defend pits? You own one or more? That's your business, but don't come crying to me when your "sweetest dog in the world" turns one day into what it was bred to be.

Did I say that? Did you even read my post? I simply stated that dog aggression is not the same as human aggression.

I do own a bulldog. He's a catch dog for hog hunting. He's never once shown any sign of aggression toward anything other than hogs, but I'm responsible. I keep him separate from my bay dogs, except when I release him to catch. No kids are ever in the yard playing with him, and he's in a kennel that he won't escape from.
I understand the potential for any dog to become aggressive toward anything or anyone, and I understand this breed is more capable of serious damage than others are. If my dog ever attacked, the news report would include me shooting him myself.
That said, people claiming the APBT should be wiped off the face of the earth are the real trash in my eyes.

Hm. I don't have any specific opinion about the dog breed, but this doesn't seem like that bad of an incident.
The dogs weren't really injured. Just seems a case of a dog getting loose, running up to the first dog it sees, and the dogs getting in a scrape. I agree that's not the best thing, but I've seen plenty of similar situations.
A lot of dogs, regardless of breed, will run up to an unfamiliar dog, then they either both get spooked, or they're trying to show dominance by getting in a fight.
Doesn't seem like a pit bull issue, just an issue of a dog getting loose. Just my two cents.

Explain your point then. I have a duty to protect my family and my pets. It doesn't matter if the pit only wants to rip my lab's head off. I shouldn't have to worry that it might happen since I know it has already attacked once before.
Pits are only 6 percent of the dog population in this country but account for more human fatalities than ALL OTHER DOG BREEDS COMBINED.
For the "it's the owner's fault" crowd, answer this: if it is the owner's fault, then why do so many terrible pet owners have pits based on the stats listed above?
There are far more golden retrievers in this country, but apparently the vast majority of their owners are good ones.

It sounds more like a very minor scrap between 2 dogs than an attack.

Thank you. She was 5 at the time of attack. The first 3-4 months were hell after. We would go into our fenced in back yard and play. soon as she would hear a dog bark, it could be 3 streets over and barely audible, she would go into an absolute panic and freak out. It was awful to see and so stressful. As a parent that was helpless to hear fears and anxiety it was heart breaking.
Thankfully 17 months later she is doing much better emotionally. She still won't go to any house in the neighborhood unless we walk her. So unlike typical 7 year olds running along the sidewalk or riding a bike to friends, she just wont do it. And I can't blame her after what happened. And her scars are bad and will never go away unless we do more plastic surgery. Thankfully none were on the face.
