I’m casual friends with Dickie Betts. He plays most NewYears Eves at a party in the back yard of another friend in Bradenton. Haven’t been in a few years.

Betts played on Elvin Bishop's "Let It Flow" album (as did a bunch of other Southern rock musicians). It is a greatly underrated album. Bishop has a weak singing voice, but the musicianship on that album is A+. One song even features Sly Stone.

I’d have risked a minor socialite disease to work that long-limbed minx in the late ‘70s.

I used to think that Elle MacPherson (who I've seen in person and she is astonishingly hot) was the best looking tall woman of all time. Julie Newmar, however, might give her a solid run for the money:

ETA: trivia: the lines in Ramblin' Man about his father being a gambler and being born in the backseat of a Greyhound bus rolling down Highway 41 aren't about Ga, they're about Fl

They were damn near the house band at the Warehouse

It opened with a triple bill of The Flock, Fleetwood Mac and the headlining Grateful Dead on January 30, 1970.
