Silent film star Bessie Love:
A lot of silent films star photographs involve women with short hair and heavy makeup (necessary because of the black and white film used at the time). Love was often an exception.

George Herriman (1880-1944), creator of the great Krazy Kat comic strip. A NO creole, his family moved to California when he was a child, so they could pass for white and have better job opportunities

The Nairobi Trio skit from Ernie Kovacs, and the original masks in the Chicago A&E Museum. My Dad watched (one of) the Ernie Kovacs shows with his Dad as a teen. He had these on VCR when I was young, and the Nairobi Trio Skits scared the hell out of me with those masks! But he would always laugh. Now that I'm older they're classically funny.

No love for anti Viet Jane. Killed her career, literally and figuratively.

Caught "Walk on the Wild Side" the other her night. Jane Fonda's second film, from 1962. She was quite believable as a hot young hooker.
