And on that note:

With a $35 loan, WS “Sylvester” Stuckey, Sr. founded Stuckey’s as a roadside pecan stand in Eastman, Georgia in 1937.

Trained to pull levers in response to sounds and lights, Ham performed his tasks admirably in space—moving only slightly slower than he had on Earth.

A commercial rectal thermistor probe was used instead of the probe used on the human Mercury astronauts. The probe was inserted 8 inches deep into Ham's rectum.

Due to a valve malfunction, the Redstone rocket delivered thrust higher than intended. The anomaly triggered the emergency escape rocket and subjected Ham to 17 g of acceleration

Pretty wild reading about him.

You can order them online, though I haven't tried yet: Stuckey's

Now that would have been downright cruel and unusual punishment to me as a kid.

Another favorite of mine that can also be ordered on-line is the "Coconut Long Boys" the candy with the long, thin roll of chewy goodness infused with real coconut.

I see someone found the old Kodachrome slides and the projector! The color saturation in old slides always amazes me.

Great pics, Mauser!
