A friend (who I had warned about saying "Yes" to any calls from unknown numbers) just reported to me that a subcontinent caller got him good.

Subcontinent Guy kept saying blather, blather, blather, OK? and my friend (foolishly) responded OK. this went on for a couple of minutes with multiple OKs being exchanged.

So when his electric service was switched without his knowledge, but with his OKs interspersed.....it was no longer OK. The first notice he got was from his electric company telling him they were sad to be losing him as a customer and this letter was acknowledgement thereof.

Just a warning about the need to delete OK from our vocabularies.

don't answer calls from numbers you don't have saved in your phone.

Ban phones. If some idiot can use a phone to hurt someone then no one should be allowed to use phones.

I've got so many calls from numbers I've had to block the last few days.

Ugh.

How tf did they switch his electric service with a recorded “OK”?

And what good does it do to switch his electric service?
