Philip Morris cigarette advertising on toys in the 50's

American Flyer made toy trains. These pictures are from a 270 news stand/ frank (hotdog) building sold by American Flyer. Can you imagine any toy like this today?
The front is pretty normal, except for the "Cigarettes" writing in front.
On one side, however, a boy in a cigarette vendor's outfit "Presenting Phillip Morris."
On the other, the Philip Morris cigarette pack:
On the back, two packs of cigs:
Was it intentional, or was it merely posting what the signs would be on a typical news stand?

Targeting the young demographic.

When I was a kid, I can remember going into stores and buying cigarettes for my parents. Life was simpler back then.

My PawPaw would give me and my brother $2. We would walk to the Bayou Magazin in Chauvin and get him a pack of Viceroys and us a couple candys. I'm 39 and we were about 9-12 @ the time. Clerk asked who we were buying them for, we'd tell her our PawPaw and she'd sell them to us.

It is no different than Coke or Pepsi advertising today. Both products are addictive, target the poor, and have serious side effects.

You've got to remember that at that time smoking was the norm. I think it was something like 70-80% of adults who smoked back then. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and can remember there being cigarette vending machines in places like hospital cafeterias. Hell, we even had cigarettes for kids...
It was a far different time.

that's why its the best performing stock since 1929, its a shame we banned them from doing it in the US, they're doing it en masse overseas now that they've spun off from altria and my portfolio has benefited greatly

Well today we have people telling kids that they can be any made up gender they want and giving them harmful drugs and hormones and surgeries...
That's probably worse than cigarettes.

You can buy Breaking Bad meth lab toys today.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Although, to be fair, the BB toys are targeted to adults.

The marina in Cabo is a gold mine for the Canel's kids for sure. Between the gum and the turtle whistles that turn their little fingers and lips green, they're well fed at a buck a pop.

Exactly , advertising cigs on toys is literally child's play compared to the BS being pushed down our children's throats today.
