What direct link does Lee have to New Orleans?

Fair enough - if anything, of all the Confederate Generals, James P. Longstreet probably has the biggest connection to the city (outside of native and adopted sons of Louisiana) - but, he is almost universally hated because he dared to blame Lee for losses after the war - particularly Gettysburg. (And he was quite reconstructed after the war, even becoming a Republican - - that was like killing widows and orphans at that point.)

At the same time, I don't object to Lee Circle remaining Lee Circle and finding something else with which to honor Allen Toussaint. It's a big city, after all.

Thanks . It was a sincere question as Im not aware of any N.O. connections with Lee.

Toussiant ,while a influential musician , I find to be a relatively underwhelming or uninspiring choice.

Absolutely not.

It will be renamed in honor of Sheriff Harry Lee, a chinaman, so the anti-white crowd is satisfied.

It will continue to be called Lee Circle to avoid confusion at Mardi Gras.

It has been decided.

Did you learn nothing from Rodney King, Ferguson, or Mizzou? Asians are considered white people now.

Look at a map of the world from 100 years ago. Things are constantly changing and renaming is a part of that process.

Not in New Orleans cowboy.

mean, if they're going to rename it, thats a hell of an option.

Toussaint Circle even sounds cool.

This

I'm not big on the whole renaming thing, but this I would be OK with.

Lee Circle is Lee Circle, period. Renaming things, streets, and places is pathetic.

Like Tivoli Circle?
