what is with some on the OT and thinking vets are like the mafia

They pretty much are a racket like any other industry. We bought our dogs from an AKC breeder straight off the AKC site and she was a retired vet who genuinely cared about her pets and she taught us alot, like the heartworm pill every vet recommends is basically a giant scam to make money and is akin to giving your dog chemo every month. She said that heartworms are incredibly rare and its not just a mosquito bite, but a specific female mosquito that makes your dog get heartworms, moreover it takes months to develop and can be stopped if it happens.......she said shes disgusted by how most vets are in it to make money and not really about the care of the dogs.

forgot to mention $1300 bill at the ER last year when our dog drank a whole pitcher of sangria the misses left on the table, he wanted the fruit at the bottom and jumped up and downed the pitcher, overnight stomach pump at the doggy er for $1300??? lol cmon now

You also forgot to mention that you're an irresponsible dumbass pet owner who should've made sure the dog didn't drink sangria. Of course I'm sure this happened after normal business hours. But you think the vet should charge you the normal rate for an emergency procedure completely the fault of your stupidity, right? frick him and his family time. Come in here and fix my mutt, but don't charge me nothin extra.

Dumbass.

unless of course its some fancy horse vet

im sure there are some horse owners that care more about their horses than their kids

I care more about my horses than any kids I'd have. It's why I'm not having kids.

But...

Horse vets are the same as small animal vets. Huge amount of debt and lower salaries than people would ever know.

Only way to really rake in the cash would maybe be as a high end equine surgeon in ky near tracks/breeding farms.
