negative prices are on marginal mmbtu's trading in the daily spot market - most gas is being sold under long term contracts or in month ahead blocks during bidweek. Spot prices are volatile when takeaway capacity is tight and there's an unplanned outage or a weather event, but it doesn't mean all permian gas is worthless 1/3rd of the year.
