I think it's tragic and people are going to grieve the way they're going to grieve, but I don't understand taking such a private thing as a death and making it a public announcement which has the added awkwardness of requiring sympathy from complete strangers.
Same thing with people who set up wreaths or bows or crosses on the side of the road.
My employer sends out emails of deaths in families. I'd understand if it was for employees or former employees, but I don't want my co-workers pretending to care that my dad died or walking up trying to find something to say about my brother's passing. That's weird.

every day, the OT never ceases to amaze me at the sheer ridiculousness that people choose to be outraged over. the fact you let it bother you to offer a judgement is the saddest part of it all - just ignore it and move on.

Not nearly as trashy as all of the shoe polish messages on car windows. RIP Lil Boo.

Never said it bothered me. Just happened to see one on the way to work this morning and thought it'd make for a potentially funny/controversial topic. Guess I was right.

my husbands aunt and uncle did the same when their child died young. Made the camp a shrine to him and had decals made for everyone's car.
To add to this, my uncle was so distraught, there was no way I could avoid putting this sticker on my truck. (He almost put it on there himself) I was very close to this cousin (more like a brother) but I hated seeing this sticker every time I drove anywhere.
When I sold the truck, the process went pretty quick and I asked the person who bought it to please remove the sticker immediately.
I didn't need to see that sticker every day to remind me that I missed him.

To each their own...live is too short for me to concern myself over what someone puts on their car.

I never understood putting a loved ones name on a vehicle. Like I'm honoring the life of this person by putting their name on a depreciating asset that will eventually end up scrapped in a junk yard.
That being said, if someone wants to grieve this way, it's their choice.
