Many companies these days require their employees to back in park only. If there is a situation where a parking lot has to be evacuated, back in parking allows there to be a much faster exit. I drive a large SUV and I find it much easier to back in park, and it is definitely easier to leave. I'm not sure why you have such a problem with it. I would bet that you are definitely a road rage canidate.

It's easier to back into a tight parking spot with my truck. It also makes leaving quicker and easier.

Its SOP for many different companies because its safer but also easier in every way. If me taking 30 seconds to back into a spot is annoying you that much then I'd hate to have your life sir. But also, think how long it would take a full size truck to back out of a tight parking spot, a lot longer. I'd hate to see what you'd say about that wait.
I even taught my fiance how to back in to parking spots because it is easier and she just drives a little coupe.

Trucks have a much tighter turning radius in reverse. That's the answer, plain and simple. When it's tight it's actually faster to back into a space than it is to try to turn into it forward, not make it, back up, straighten out, and go in head-first again. Plus it's faster to get out that way.

Yep, it has been found to cause a lot less accidents. People tend to pay more attention backing in to park than backing out to leave. If you have less accidents, companies eat that shite up.

Vehicle incident statistics show it is safer to back into a parking spot rather than back out of one.

I know. I responded to both with opposite responses.

A lot easier to cut your tires by backing in when you have RWD.

Suck on these, city boy!

Backing-in to park is trashy.
This is a universal truth.

I don't think the turning radius changed whether you're in forward or reverse
I just like being able to use my camera and mirrors to be able to get in easier as opposed to not being able to see anything near that good pulling in.

why does this bother you, it's a safety precaution
Posted on 10/28/15 at 9:10 am to saint amant steve
It's supposed to be safer. Some companies ask their employees to back into spaces.
