I live in Sterling Ridge (Woodlands) which includes Carlton Woods which likely wipes its arse with the community in question. I can tell you that from my perspective most of the people in my hood can easily afford all they show.

The neighbor in question would be comparable to River Oaks and laughs at burbs

Cracks me up how everyone on this board knows all their neighbors' income and bank account balances.

I gauge the usage of dispensable income via cash transaction as a pretty good indicator. When people have big fancy things and have for a period of time while they live freely (travel and such), its kind of a good litmus test.

woodlands is beyond burbs now. Its establishing its own footprint.

besides, the pricest current real estate offering is not off of Kirby.......guess where?

I looked it up. You were closer than I would have thought. Day students average $25k and boarding students are at about $45k.

My cousin and his family are pretty well off so he went to a private school in Houston, and their "conference" for sports were filled with all the exclusive private schools in Texas/Oklahoma. Anyway for basketball they'd have a big tournament at the end of the season at Greenhill School in Dallas and 16 schools were invited for both girls and boys... talk about smuggest of the smug all gathering in one area. It was brutal, not to mention not much talent involved. Hockaday girls were ugly

Lacrosse was even worse.

The Woodlands Texas laughs at you.....and, enjoy living in your cess pool of inner city crime.

I'd rather blow my head than live somewhere as shitty as the Woodlands.

Please do not try to argue Woodlands vs River Oaks. Woodlands is the burbs any way you look at it.

Funny thing is the prices are absolutely equivalent. Difference is when a CEO goes shopping up here, he has a far less chance of getting carjacked.

There is a reason the Kirby/River Oaks people sneer in this direction......because its better up here and they cant stand people being happy away from Westheimer.

when the majority of the people living there work in the major city 30 miles away it's a burb

it will never be looked at as anything else except by the people that live there

If you are serious, I feel sorry for you. The Woodlands is leaps and bounds the best suburban community in Houston.

People can posture all they want. I am intimate with all of them as I am involved in developments throughout Houston and they all fall short of the Woodlands.

Small problem: even if you live in a place like River Oaks, Memorial, Tanglewood, or Carlton Oaks....you still live in Houston.

What good is your money? You live in freaking Houston.

Don't wanna hurt your feelings, but Houston sucks.

Between state, federal, insurance, social security, and the myriad other deductions he probably has, it is much closer to 50% of his income than you seem to think that he isn't taking home. Have you ever held a job before?

its ugly by comparison to other areas. I do agree as we lived in north GA for a while and man was that pretty.

BUT, Houston is the financial beacon most cities in the country only wish they were. Without funds, no city is pretty.

The rest of the Woodlands versus Kirby? Well, hell no!

LOL. Don't get me wrong. I know it's not bad. Those are all damn nice places.

it's just that living in the best part of Houston is probably not terribly different from living in the best part of Lahore or Lagos, for example. Yes I exaggerate but you get my drift.
