those calorie counters are not accurate. weight is a factor, and since you don't input that, no way that is correct.

Why does what other people do bother you? What do you stand to gain from it frustrating you and occupying space in your mind long enough to run home and post it here. If someone wants to workout incorrectly then it's their prerogative. Why dont you befriend some of these people and give them some tips on how to workout properly. That would better than judging and complaining.

Is it better or worse or waste of time to use the handles on the stair master?

Well my random gym thought is while I'm on the treadmill do I really have to listen to that dude behind me grunting while working arms in blue jeans, work boots and a polo?

Most TMs at a gym have weight input and it definitely factors in. My GF and I have done the exact same TM workouts together and compared kcals burnt'ed.

But you're right if you do a quick start and don't put in age/ht/wt/gender in the program, it won't be accurate.

Oh and you need to feed that computer your HR by holding the little sensors every few minutes. I have found most of those to be accurate enough(close to my TomTom watch HR monitor).

Have to agree with OP. I see people doing this all the time and it infuriates me. I'm not even being sarcastic by saying this sounds like a thread I would start. Nice Up-Down vote ratio as well.
