re: People speaking out about Kratom energy drinks

I could cherry pick a couple tragic situations and make a similar case for alcohol, guns, or whatever. A politician could point to a person physically addicted to alcohol drinking whose life is ruined or a classroom of shot up dead kids, outlaw those things, and I’m sure few here would support that gov’t overreach.
A colleague of mine turned me onto kratom a few years ago. It helped him beat an opiate pill addiction following back surgeries. I dabble in it and find it most useful on Monday mornings if I have Sunday beers to give me a jolt and kill the slight hangover feeling or some afternoons when I’m dragging.
We shouldn’t make responsible users criminals and take our chances with the extreme minority who may have an issue.

What a dumb article. All that withdrawals crap is bullshite. I take kratom daily and whenever I go on vacations I don’t bring any kratom with me at all and outside of maybe possible insomnia I’ve noticed, I don’t experience any withdrawals
First let's clear up the article is about Feel Fresh, which is different from what you are taking. Withdrawals can certainly happen depending on what dosage you are taking never mind you pointed out that you did have minor withdrawals. With Feel Fresh you have something analogous to both benzo and opiate withdrawal at the same time if you have been taking enough.

And how do they go into crippling debt over it? I’ll buy a package of kratom powder from the smoke shop and that literally lasts me the entire month.
Again, you are not speaking to the supplement mentioned in the article. I have seen Feel Fresh in C-stores with a price tag of over $15 and while I don't know if this is usual or not I also understand some people are using 5-6 a day. An over $2,000 a month habit is definitely a road to financial ruin for most people.
One thing that differentiates this from alcohol is the significant oversight it has. When you buy (legal) alcohol, you generally know exactly what you are buying and the potency of what is in the bottle.

You're lucky.
I know a few people that have gotten addicted to it.
Your experience is obviously different.
Or, you are addicted and lying about it, just like addicts do.
That's the shite about addiction.
It's easy to say " there's nothing wrong with it. I have it under control."
I knew a lot of people in the 80s that said the same about coke....

Should have been outlawed years ago. People are getting addicted to this crap and spending incredible amounts of money to buy it because they have to consume so much of it in order to avoid withdrawals.

The debt part is true. I done and tried more drugs than you probably even know about.i Was very bad off on Benzos like 15 to 30 Bars a day for 2 years at my worst point. I use to take alot for oxys 80s! Only thing that grabbed me were the benzos. No the coke or xtc etc. But kratom has the second worst withdrawals I've ever had. Legs and hips fricking hurt like a mofo! Its over after about 4 or 5 days and then its just mental. But that shite is addictive. I do admit its better than taking other drugs and it helps out alit of people. To say it not addictive is a flat out lie

It's a legitimate opiate. Therefore it can be habit forming. Moderation is the key to everything in life.

I don't understand the people that feel the need to ban something for everyone because a few people are fricking idiots and can't control themselves.
