I would think the location of one's homestead exemption and the type of license plate on any vehicles would be the biggest indicators of residency. I had to prove GA residency to Kennesaw State and I believe those were the things they asked about.

Cite the specific tax code that says you file taxes based on your ID and not where you live. I’ll wait.
Just go ahead and try keeping a Louisiana driver's license, hence having a Louisiana address, and not paying income tax to the state.
The burden of proof of establishing residency in another state is on you.

Lol. You really are an idiot.

If you have a Louisiana driver's license, you have an address you are associated with in Louisiana. The state is going to presume that is your domecile and the burden of proof is on you to establish domecile somewhere else. Good luck doing that if you still have association with that address on your driver's license, you are fighting the entity that gets to rule on what you are saying.
I've had multiple people tell me I'm wrong without providing one ounce of supporting evidence. Again, I don't give a shite, try it and see how it works out for you if you are so confident.

I would want to promptly take advantage of Texas auto insurance rates.

That’s not how it works at all, moron. No one needs to show evidence because it’s completely off base.

Obviously some are and not at epidemic levels.

To prove that you were not a Louisiana resident and not required to file a state individual income tax return, you must provide documentation that confirms your domicile in the other state.
The burden of proof is absolutely on the taxpayer.
Not knowing the specific of all the tax law is fine, it's voluminous and complicated, but saying shite that is completely wrong with such conviction just makes you look dumb.

If they are putting a Louisiana address on a w4, Louisiana income tax is almost certainly being withheld.

I lived in Houston for almost 3 years with a Louisiana ID and never payed a lick of Louisiana taxes. I didn't get a Texas license until I moved to Austin simply because my Louisiana one was expiring.
I tell my employer where my current address is, and pay taxes that align with that residence, regardless of what my drivers license says.
You're wrong here.

You got downvoted to hell but you’re absolutely right. Louisiana will come back for those taxes.

I held on to mine for a while when I first moved here 13 years ago. Never paid a dime to Louisiana for state income tax.

You just didn’t get caught.

The only thing I am arguing is it is not an epidemic. When I moved to Texas, I got a Texas license. When I moved back, I got a Louisiana license. Still have the Texas ones.

If you still had a relationship with your Louisiana address, I'm not wrong, you just committed tax fraud. Not on purpose, but you did.

What does what states require ID to efile have to do with what states you are subject to tax in?
When I file it asks what states I worked in. Then determines that I don't have to pay state income tax because I only worked in Louisiana.

If you hold official residence in the state you are supposed to pay taxes to Louisiana
