Sad part is, you seem to be a fairly intelligent girl (except for the whole booty play thing, and your blatant gender bias.) You should know better.

LL is somewhat of a mystery to me too. I've always chalked her quirks up to her being young . . . and female.

You've spent this thread twisting everything I've said. There were 6 pages of plenty of people agreeing that they refuse to be glued to their work when they're at home. I swear some of you just wait for particular posters to come around.

I just checked back in on it for the first time since this morning and you happened to be the one dropping pearls of millennial wisdom last. I still heart you though. You remind me of a couple of my older cousins' kids.

I guess so

There's nothing wrong with not caring to devote your life to work. If someone else does, great for them.

"Sister, when I've raised Hell, you'll know it." One of the great unsung movie quotes of all time.

Nah. I somewhat enjoy what I do when I'm at work.

But plenty of people love their jobs and still choose to leave them at work for the most part.

Hell, one of my friends is the head doctor at one of the hospitals in New Orleans and other than when he is officially on call, he isn't just open to be called upon whenever. There are plenty of jobs that are great jobs with lots of work where people still value their personal time.

That's how Millennials think Cades, deal with it all the time

Woah now horsey. I'm a millennial and I am the youngest person to ever win presidents club at my company. The non lazy millennials are some of the smartest and best employees I know at many companies. Fast paced, very solution oriented, and attentive to detail. Can be great qualities for most industries.

That's the thing about stereotyping generations, there's going to be exceptions.

An excellent salesperson has to be both money and goal driven. Being available 24/7 is part of achieving goals and making money. They are the contact between the company and client. When the client wants something, you gotta be there.

exactly Roger.....sales people have to be available to put out fires before the bosses get involved.

How can someone that is paid commission not want to know when their customers are having issues? Your paycheck depends on it.

I have lazy friends and I have have amazingly brilliant and creative friends who are huge assets to their companies. I feel like every generation is exactly the same.

Presidents Club is an achievement award for salespeople in most sales organizations.

2 phones.

1 company, one personal.

Turn the company one off when you leave the office.

Tb08 you're correct. I always want to be there for my customers when they need me. That's the problem. It's a difficult task to truly be outstanding in sales and also have the ability to turn it off. Thats why I started this thread.

My best friend and I argue all the time. He tries to get me to come work for his company at a 20k pay cut because id only be responsible for 40 hours a week and that's it.....its just not in my nature. I don't think he's necessarily lazy for it. But we do have very priorities.

Breesus, that's also another part of the issue. My home is my office. Therefore I don't really have a cut off time. It's just done when I'm done. Whether that's 2 P OR 9 P. I will stop for family time but sometimes I have report deadlines requiring finishing late at night since I'm usually in the field (re: actually working) all day.

Absolutely. You are the liaison between field and office and should want to be the guy/girl who makes sure that problem is taken care of to the satisfaction of a client. If they have a problem on Friday night and you aren't available til monday, it could cost you a relationship.

In many industries, outside sales is a 24/7 position.

When you're done, turn the work phone off. Install visual voicemail and have it forwarded to your personal phone. It's basically the same thing as a secretary who takes messaged if you're not in the office. You wont miss an emergency and you can skip bullshite calls.

Sort of another problem. I got rid of my personal cell two years ago. I carried two phones for a year and tbh it was a pita. Most of the personal friends and family were texting my work phone anyway. Keeping up with two phones was annoying.
