My IF schedule is as follows:
Eat first meal between 1 - 2 PM.
East last meal no later than 7:00 PM but try for 6:00 PM.
Fast from between dinner and lunch a total of 18 hours.
There are different ways to do IF. Some eat normally one day and then fast the entire next day. Some do like me and fast every day.
When does the study indicate is the perfect window to eat?
Study above recommends 8AM to 2PM
I personally do it the same way you do (makes more sense logistically for me)
The podcast I linked claims it does not matter as long as it is entrained into your routine / circadian rhythm.

I think IF is fantastic. I stay in excellent shape, I feel energized and more alert, a don't craze snacks or any food really throughout the day (very important, especially at a desk/computer job), and I actually feel stronger during my IF workout (meaning I workout only during the fasting period).
I'm very pleased there's strong research to back up the claimed benefits.

I eat a light breakfast, lunch, a snack around 2:30-3PM, dinner and then maybe something light after dinner.. Stick to the same schedule.. My grandpa use to say "I don't eat because I am hungry, I eat so I will not get hungry". In other words, you eat more when you are hungry so don't just wait until you get hungry, stick to your schedule. If you eat dinner at 6PM every day, if you are not that hungry yet.. still eat.

There is a ton of data
The 2 linked discussions in thread thread are 2 of the bigger names researching the topic = the validators (confirming with randomized controlled trials/benchwork). 20 year or more buildout... Some on this board will be dead before a consensus is reached...
The person who has been a big advocate for IF for quite a while is:
Leangains
This guy is an innovator (created the regimen with empirical results grounded in sound scientific principles)
Truth be told, fasting has been around forever. We evolved during times of likely food scarcity. Not so strangely, most major religions/civilizations have fasting rituals built into them....
Only recent did we decide that the above was bullshite. It is not a good business model to tell you not to eat/consume (nothing to sell/package)...
Mizzou
Another overlooked, but important variable is the microbiome (gut bacteria). Food quality, composition and timing affect this...
It is the hidden hand...

The Gut’s Microbiome Changes Rapidly with Diet
A new study finds that populations of bacteria in the gut are highly sensitive to the food we digest
quote:
You are what you eat, and so are the bacteria that live in your gut.
Microbiologists have known for some time that different diets create different gut flora, but previous research has focused on mice instead of humans, leaving the actual relationship between our food and our stomach bacteria unclear. A new study, published Wednesday in Nature, indicates that these changes can happen incredibly fast in the human gut—within three or four days of a big shift in what you eat. “We found that the bacteria that lives in peoples’ guts is surprisingly responsive to change in diet,” Lawrence David, assistant professor at the Duke Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy and one of the study’s authors, says. “Within days we saw not just a variation in the abundance of different kinds of bacteria, but in the kinds of genes they were expressing.” (Scientific American is part of Nature Publishing Group.)

Cleveland Clinic Unveils Top 10 Medical Innovations Most Likley To Be Game Changers
A panel of top doctors and researchers presents the advancements with the power to transform healthcare in 2017

1. Using the Microbiome to Prevent, Diagnose and Treat Disease
When it comes to life-saving potential and market opportunities, the gut is a gold mine. Trillions of bacteria making up communities in our body – the microbiome – are unlocking mysteries at a rapid pace as the market scrambles to address the possibilities.
The crux of the discovery, made within the last 10 years, is that our microbes have a mind of their own. The chemicals they emit interfere with the way food is digested, medicine is deployed, and even how a disease progresses.
Biotech companies once focused on the genomic market are pivoting to the potential of the microbiome to develop new diagnostics, new therapies, and “probiotic” products to prevent dangerous microbe imbalances.
With the National Microbiome Initiative accelerating research and development, experts believe 2017 is the year the microbiome cements itself as the healthcare industry’s most promising and lucrative frontier.

I am so arse backwards that it is not funny.
Breakfast - green tea on the way to work.
Lunch - maybe another green tea or will allow myself to have a Polar Pop (alternate between diet coke and regular coke when I do).
6-630pm - couple of craft beers.
Supper - 7 or 8 pm.
Religiously take multi-vitamins and fish oil daily.
Workout 3+ times a week. Maybe have to see a doctor every 3-5 years if I am dying of the flu. Last time I went to the doctor was for a physical (at the age of 50) and blood work and treadmill all checked out.
I know my eating schedule is all screwed up but it has been like this for 10+ years. Just cant get motivated to fix/eat oatmeal or fruit in the morning and would rather not eat lunch if fast food is my only option.

do we need a study to tell us how to wipe our arse? ... how about eating a healthy diet in moderation with some exercise thrown in ... that hard to follow? ...

How about learn as much as you can about the human body and then use the knowledge to put together the most efficient plan possible....

So basically, restricting the amount of food one eats decreases body fat? Who knew?

This study is trying to go further than that actually by looking at other variables.
